New Year? New Furnace!

newyear_newfurnace-featimage

We know that replacing your furnace in the middle of winter isn’t the best option, but luckily for those in Las Vegas, the temperature doesn’t dip quite as low as it does in other parts of the country. With the New Year only days away, you might be thinking about the updates you can make to your home in 2017. At Enix Mechanical, we would love to help you choose and install a new heating system, or if you need furnace repair, get your current system back into optimal shape. If you’re contemplating replacing your furnace, here are a few things to consider.

How Old Is Your Furnace?

If your furnace is more than 20 years old, it might be time to replace it. If you’ve had it maintained on a regular basis, you could get a few more good years out of it, but if you’ve noticed it blowing cold air, cycling on and off frequently, or making strange noises, it’s best to at least have it inspected. As with any machinery, the better you treat it, the better it will treat you, but if your furnace has come to the end of its lifespan, we’ll gladly help you replace it.

What Are Your Heating Demands?

Vegas doesn’t have the frigid winters many other cities do, but the temps can still drop once November and December arrive. January can have cold nights as well, and if your furnace can’t keep up with your heating demands, it might be time to look at replacing it. However, it’s also important to evaluate whether or not your heating demands are realistic (such as setting the thermostat at 75 on a regular basis). Setting the thermostat a few degrees lower will still keep your house warm while also lowering your monthly utility bills and keeping your furnace from having to work overtime.

How Is Your Ductwork?

If you’re noticing that certain rooms in your home are colder or warmer than others, it could be due to the ductwork. The problem may not lie with your furnace, but with leaky or broken ducts. Even the smallest hole can lead to poor airflow throughout your home, and instead of replacing your entire heating system, it can be better to have your ductwork repaired or replaced. Our experienced HVAC team can help you make the best choice regarding your ducts.

Are You Adding on to Your Home?

If you have plans to remodel or add on to your home in 2017, it’s important to think about the HVAC sooner rather than later. Your current furnace may not be big enough to handle the increased square footage, and you don’t want to face increased energy bills once your heating system tries to handle the elevated demand. You may also want to look into heating and cooling “zones” in your home, where new units and ductwork are installed.

If you have grand ideas for your home in the New Year, and a new furnace is a part of those plans, contact Enix in Las Vegas today. We can provide expert HVAC service whenever you need it and keep your home warm or cool all year long!
